Random Act of Kindness: Day 2

Today I was at a store and was standing in a check out line. A young mother in front of me had a few items and was next to check out. When she got her total she was $2.73 short and was going through her pockets and purse to find change. I went into my purse and gave the cashier $3.00. She turned around and thanked me 3 times and I realized how much she appreciated that small act of kindness. I only hope some day she will return the favor to someone else.

Give a Gift of Books For the Holiday

Did you know that your child should have a library of books that when stacked on top of each other are the same height as he/she? That means when you make your shopping list or relatives and friends ask what to get your child make sure you include a list of books. Reading will truly enhance your child's imagination and improve their overall academic performance.

Make sure the books are interesting to the child and on their independent reading level. All books don't have to be on their independent level. If they are on a higher reading level make sure you read them with your child and discuss the characters, setting, problem, solution, and conclusion.

To get a list of quality literature for children pre-school through 6Th grade, get a copy of my book, "A Parent's Handbook: How to Get the Best Education Possible For Your Child K-6 Grades. A Random Act of Kindness: Day 1

I was thinking about the month of December and what would be a very meaningful activity for families to do the entire month. I thought of 31 days of "Random Acts of Kindness". Every day this month try and do 1 random act of kindness and write it down. At the end of the month look over your list and see the difference you have made.

December 1, 2009 - I was in my car on the way to work and there was a lot of traffic coming and going. I slowed down and signaled to the car on a side street to go in front of me. It would have been difficult for him to get into the traffic if someone would not stop and let him in. I know he appreciated it because he waved and drove on. It only took a moment to let someone in front of me.
